Canadian Judicial Council Continues to Deliberate on Justice Robin Camp

Camp’s request to speak to the senior judges and lawyers is turned down.

In 2014, Justice Robin Camp displayed contemptible behaviour at a sexual assault trial, asking the 19-year-old complainant, “Why couldn’t you just keep your knees together?”

Today, defence lawyers for Justice Camp learned that the Federal court has rejected their argument asking that he be allowed to address the Canadian Judicial Council in person following an another acquittal of the accused in the trial that landed him in hot water. The council suggested that Camp submit any arguments in writing for the council.

Justice Camp was a provincial court Judge in Calgary hearing criminal trials involving primarily criminal code charges before he was appointed to the Federal Court.
